Dear friend,
South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster recently signed a bill into law that would ban abortion after six weeks of pregnancy. Many people don't even know they're pregnant by then.
Under this law, nearly one million South Carolinians of reproductive age would be left with few options to obtain an abortion during a pandemic. We cannot allow politicians the chance to deny people access to safe, legal abortion.
That’s why we’ve sued. The restrictions in this bill are intentionally designed to prevent patients from exercising their constitutional right to abortion.
The bill enacted in South Carolina goes so far that even sexual assault survivors would be barred from having an abortion unless doctors report their names to law enforcement. This is outrageous.
Thank you for joining us in this fight.
