Dear friend,   We're at a critical moment. The Senate just introduced their version of the For the People Act. And we know it’s possible to pass this legislation -- but it’s not inevitable. We will need every last vote from pro-democracy senators if we want to send this bill to President Biden’s desk.       Help us show Congress there’s strong support for reforms that will protect voting rights and end congressional gerrymandering by adding your name to this petition supporting the For the People Act (H.R. 1 / S. 1).       A.G. Holder is testifying at a Senate hearing today to talk about how this bill is essential to restoring and expanding voting rights. In fact, the For the People Act is the most comprehensive democracy reform legislation in decades. It would be the most effective way to combat existing (and the 253 proposed !) state-level voter suppression laws.     Will you add your name to our petition? Here’s what’s at stake : Passing the For the People Act would increase access to voting by expanding vote-by-mail and establishing automatic voter registration. It would also modernize voting standards and ensure ballot counts are accurate. It would also end the unfair practice of congressional partisan gerrymandering -- which secured unearned majorities for Republicans in the U.S. House during President Obama’s second term. We talk about redistricting impacting the next decade of politics. But truth be told, passing this bill would have lasting effects for generations.       We know that the For the People Act is extremely popular with voters -- even across political affiliations. But senators need to see that support in action. That’s why we need to make a big splash.
