A year ago, on Jan. 6, when white supremacist pro-Trumpers attacked the Capitol building in a deadly insurrection, Fox News hosts were busy lying to their viewers, calling the insurrectionists “Antifa” or denying they were Trump supporters. Privately, the Fox News hosts were texting Mark Meadows begging him to ask Trump to tell the insurrectionists to leave. They’ve continued to lie, mislead, and push wild conspiracy theories about the insurrection ever since.
That’s just one of a multitude of important topics that Fox News keeps spreading toxic disinformation and conspiracy theories on. Our cable fees should NOT go to support Fox News’ dangerous disinformation, which is tearing our democracy apart. Fox News has been America’s main driver of disinformation on the COVID-19 pandemic and vaccines, fueled the sharp rise of anti-democratic and authoritarian sentiment by spreading Trump’s Big Lie that he won the 2020 election, encouraged the harassment of those with different viewpoints (remember Tucker Carlson urging his viewers to harass mask wearers ?) and so much more.
It’s time that Fox News is held accountable for its dangerous actions. Our money shouldn’t go toward an organization that continues to harm our country, our democracy, our health, and our lives. Thanks for all you do,
