Friend, as gas prices rise and grocery bills surge, the cost of renting is also rising higher than ever before. Housing costs are higher than they’ve been in decades. According to the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, Americans on average expect rent to rise 10.1 percent over the next year. The high cost of rent is being felt in cities like Detroit and Atlanta, both in battleground states. With the midterm elections around the corner, rising rent could spell trouble for Democrats. The increase in home prices has prevented many people from buying their first home and it’s been proven that owning a home is one of the greatest things you can do to build generational wealth. It’s time to demand that the Biden administration address the home affordability crisis once and for all. Affordable housing isn’t a privilege, it's a right that should be extended to all. Yours in the struggle, Marquese Averett, Daily Kos. | |||||
