Friend —
My name is Yusra Mardini and I'm a Syrian refugee. I swam for the
Refugee Olympic Team, and I am now a Goodwill Ambassador for UNHCR, the
UN Refugee Agency.
Two huge earthquakes recently hit Türkiye and my home country, Syria.
Thousands of people died. Thousands more are displaced and struggling to
keep warm during cold winter nights.
I'm proud and relieved to know that UNHCR is already on the ground
helping those in need. In Syria, UNHCR is already distributing emergency
supplies, including high-thermal blankets, mattresses and other
lifesaving items. Your
emergency gift today ensures that displaced families have the resources
they need as they recover from this heartbreaking tragedy.
The people of Syria have my heart. I fled the violence in my country,
but so many families are still there, displaced and far from home. They
lack the basic necessities they need to survive this terrible disaster
and the harsh winter conditions, compounded by years of hardship and
loss.
My people are strong and resilient, but they urgently need your support. So, I humbly ask, can you please send a generous gift to help families in Syria, Türkiye and around the world right now? Friend — they are waiting for you.
Children shiver in freezing winter winds. Grandparents must sleep on
the cold, hard ground. People need protection — they need shelter,
blankets and other basic supplies. They need to know there are people
like you by their side.
My time as Goodwill Ambassador has shown me how powerful and
compassionate this community is. UNHCR is helping survivors right now,
but we need your continued support to save lives.
Make a life-changing gift to aid displaced families today.
Every second counts.
With my deepest thanks, |
