It brutalized NYers during the 2020 protests. With a history of racial bias, and misconduct, this militarized unit has no place in our communities. Week in Review

On Thursday, VOCAL-NY joined allies outside Gov. Hochul's office to demand a Safe & Fair budget that invests in the health, safety, and New York communities. VOCAL-NY leaders called for investments in the Housing Access Voucher Program (HAVP), a statewide rent subsidy program to curb evictions, give homeless people a path to permanent housing, and promote affordable housing construction. Leaders also called on Gov. Hochul to invest in public health responses to the overdose crisis such as authorizing Overdose Prevention Centers and decriminalizing life-saving buprenorphine.
