Through our Community Action Grants (CAG) program, your gift today can help the Carrizo/Comecrudo Tribe of Texas keep up their work, challenging the dangerous methane export terminals and pipeline projects that threaten devastating impacts on their community’s health, violate Indigenous rights, and put countless endangered species at risk. In May 2023, the Carrizo/Comecrudo tribe of Texas led the Bridge to the Ancestors. This amazing, and at times grueling, Indigenous youth-led walk spanned over 600 miles from Monohans to Brownsville, Texas and highlighted the immense impact extractive industries continue to have across communities in Texas. The walk included several stops at Indigenous cultural sites and the fossil fuel projects that threaten them, like Texas LNG, Rio Grande LNG’s neighbor. The proposed plans for Texas LNG directly overlap with the Garcia Pasture, a sacred burial site for the Carrizo/Comecrudo Tribe. Almost nothing will slow down these fossil fuel expansion projects — except people power. That’s why we’re excited to support the Carrizo/Comecrudo Tribe of Texas with a CAG grant, and you can help us expand that grant when you give today. |
