Your August edition of THE ELEPHANT GUARDIAN 🐘🛡️

Hi,

Elephant conservation is a complex challenge that needs support and funding across many areas. There isn't a one-size-fits-all solution; instead, we rely on a coordinated approach with diverse strategies working together. This effort must be supported at the grassroots level and involve local communities. Each issue, whether it’s habitat loss, human-elephant conflict, or unique challenges within specific ecosystems, requires a tailored solution.

In this edition of The Elephant Guardian, we highlight three key strategies that are having a real impact for elephant conservation. From pioneering farming techniques to connecting isolated elephant populations, our project partners are achieving significant results thanks to the generous support of our donors. We hope you find this issue informative and inspiring, as it showcases how together we can secure a future for these magnificent animals.

Elephant Family Captured on Camera in Oil Palm Plantation
Camera traps installed by our project partner Sumatera Hijau Lestari (SHL) on an oil plantation in the Leuser Ecosystem have captured footage of a family of six elephants, including a calf. SHL is working with the plantation owner to develop safe and effective ways of deterring the elephants. Camera trapping enables the team to monitor the number of elephants and their movements through the ecosystem.
