Recently, President Biden moved to protect the stunning Boundary Waters in Minnesota from toxic mining. His initiation of a mineral withdrawal began the process of unravelling Trump’s attack on this precious wildland—and not a moment too soon.    Now it’s time to take the next step. Join The Wilderness Society and ask the Biden administration to take further action to protect the Boundary Waters once and for all!    SIGN THE PETITION                       Friend, for years, mining interests have been vying to set up shop just outside the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness’ southwest border. Biden’s recent action helped forestall the immediate threat, but two mining leases owned by the company Twin Metals Minnesota, a subsidiary of a Chilean mining conglomerate, still loom. If developed, the Twin Metals mine would leak sulfuric acid and toxic heavy metals into the watershed, contaminating ancestral Ojibwe land, wildlife habitat and cherished canoeing areas.
