Friend,
Next month, we will embark on a new journey through Washington, Oregon, and Idaho, and we are collaborating with Tribal communities and organizers to restore the relationship with the Snake River.
Native peoples along the Snake River have depended on their deep connection with salmon since the beginning of time. Sadly, the presence of four dams along the river threaten our sacred salmon with extinction.
Tribal members have been contesting these dams even before their construction, due to the endangerment of the salmon, the river’s ecosystem, and the treaty rights and culture of many Tribes along the Snake River. Now, Native communities are calling on the Biden administration to remove the dams immediately.
We’re bringing more grassroots political pressure to this urgent campaign by sponsoring a caravan that will visit communities hosting public events along the Snake River between September 23 and October 1.
Together, we’ll keep fighting for the protection of our sovereignty and saving sacred places from destruction.
Judith LeBlanc (Caddo)
Executive Director.
