Friend,
In the wake of the devastating wildfires in Lāhainā, Maui, this community has been coming together to support one another. But they need our help.
Our friends in Lāhainā have shared how difficult it has been to simply get water, ice, and other household items to people and families. These items are coming by boat, canoe, helicopter, plane, and ATV to avoid the closed roads.

The Aloha spirit of love and compassion is what we are seeing in the efforts of the Native Hawaiians who have organized the response to the wildfires. The song Kaulana Na Pua -- Famous are the Flowers (Children) -- written by Native Hawaiian Eleanor Kekoaohiwaikalani Wright Prendergast reflects the values Native Hawaiians have passed down for generations. Our relatives in Hawaii are rebuilding their homeland together, embodying their collective values and carrying their culture forward with strength.
As ‘Ohana Wa’a recently wrote :
“Amidst the ashes, leaders from our canoe family are rising to provide, not only for their family and neighbors, but for the whole community.”
