He has strengthened our movement’s organizing power and infrastructure – directing funding from the Scherman Foundation to movement-led work, and mobilizing other funders to do the same.    Both in his early work as a Legal Aid housing attorney for a decade, and through his leadership of the Neighborhoods First Fund, Mike has fought tirelessly for tenants and homeless New Yorkers. His early support and encouragement helped inspire and launch our housing organizing team, which has won major victories for tenants rights over the past decades.  We are excited to honor Mike’s notable leadership and his impact.
