Dear friend,
Multibillion-dollar corporations are raking in profits by building pro-woman reputations.
Nike featured powerful women in an ad narrated by U.S. Soccer star Megan Rapinoe.1 AT&T claims they stand for racial justice.2 Disney executives just spoke at one of the largest women-empowerment symposiums in the country.3
But behind the scenes, these same corporations are funneling millions of dollars into electing extremist politicians, like Senators Ted Cruz and Mitch McConnell, who want to take away reproductive freedom.
UltraViolet is running an ad calling out these anti-choice companies during the NBA finals, when millions of people will be watching. Will you donate $5 to get our ad on the air ?
The receipts are real. Here is the breakdown of the over $3 million given by these corporations this year :
- AT&T : $1,956,953
- Coca-Cola : $1,028,838
- Disney : $203,350
- Nike : $99,000
- Procter & Gamble : $144,000
- Uber : $148,000
Look at Disney : On the surface, the company celebrates diversity and strong independent women in films like Coco, Moana, and Frozen. Disney wants us to think it has entirely distanced itself from its racist and sexist Song of the South and Sleeping Beauty days.
But 51% of Disney's total political giving in 2020 was to anti-choice candidates or their associated PACs.4
AT&T, Coca-Cola, Disney, Nike, Procter & Gamble, and Uber all target female consumers and promote woman-friendly work environments, yet they bankroll candidates who actively work against women's rights.
These corporations--including many that have fallen all over themselves trying to align with Black Lives Matter--are doing immeasurable damage to Black, Indigenous, and people of color who suffer the worst from anti-choice policy.5
We can stop this outpouring of funds for anti-choice candidates by making it public knowledge, threatening these companies' pro-woman credit. We're running an ad during the NBA finals--with a viewership of more than 7 million people--to tell Disney, AT&T, and Nike, the official sponsors of the finals, to stand up for reproductive justice.
Thanks for speaking out !!
