U.S (Abortion rights) : Stop claiming these laws help patients !

Dear friend,

2021 is poised to be the most hostile year on record for abortion rights. According to Guttmacher Institute, since January 2021, there have been 561 abortion restrictions, including 165 bans, introduced across 47 states. In fact, 83 of those restrictions have already been enacted across 16 states — including 10 bans.

Anti-abortion lawmakers, emboldened by Amy Coney Barrett’s confirmation to the Supreme Court, and the 200+ federal judges the Trump administration appointed, are pushing these abortion restrictions at record pace in an effort to take away our ability to control our own bodies. They are claiming these bill help patients — but the facts show that limitations or restrictions to abortion services are a massive burden.

Some of these laws effectively require patients to make two trips to a provider who may be far from home; others require state-mandated counseling prior to receiving abortion services. As a result patients are forced to take extra time off work, losing wages they can’t afford to lose.

Today, even with the protections of Roe v. Wade, accessing abortion is challenging, if not impossible, for too many people. This is part of an aggressive agenda that seeks to do one thing — ban abortion outright.

Sign here if you think lawmakers should stop claiming their anti-abortion laws help patients and should start trusting patients to make the right decision for themselves and their families.
