U.S : Promises made, promises not kept.

Dear friend,

President Trump has made a lot of promises when it comes to his administration’s response to COVID-19.

From “anybody that needs a test, gets a test,” to “it will miraculously go away,” to a spur of the moment website idea, Trump has continued to fall short of his promises.

While testing has increased, the U.S. has fallen short on a per-capita basis and we lack a national strategy that experts say would help contain the virus. Trump promised to unleash 100,000 additional ventilators to struggling hospitals in 100 days, but after his May target date to reopen the economy, only 6,190 ventilators had been supplied. And perhaps Trump’s most troubling promise of all -- that the virus would simply go away -- led to a bungled response that now has the U.S. with a quarter of the world’s 10 million cases.

As cases soar around the country, Trump’s feet need to be held to the fire. Trump likes to say, “promises made, promises kept.” As far as his handling of COVID-19 is concerned, this is far from the truth.

It didn’t have to be this way. But empty promises got us here.

Let's get to work,
