After community activists on the ground fought against the creation of a militarized police training facility for months, the Atlanta City Council betrayed them & their own duties by greenlighting the construction anyway.

Now, in the face of immense backlash to their reactionary, anti-democracy decision, they’re doubling down by using Jim Crow-style signature verification on the thousands of collected referendum signatures. They’re trying to stop the voices of the people from being heard.

It gets worse. After those measures were called out by local activists, Georgia prosecutors announced that 61 anti-Cop City protesters would face racketeering charges – a brazen, last-ditch attempt to silence the movement.
