Saturday, September 23: Daniel's Day : September 20th is Daniel Prude’s birthday. He was a father, brother, uncle, son and deeply loved by his family. Three years ago he was killed by Rochester Police while experiencing a mental health crisis. On September 23rd we will gather across the state to honor those killed by police and advocate for the passage of Daniel’s law, a bill that would remove police as the default response to mental health crises and allow Peers/Mental health workers and EMT's to be first responders. RSVP and more info below : Rochester : 9.23 | 4-7pm| Jefferson & McCree Brooklyn : 9.23| 3-7pm | Utica & Montgomery  Albany : 9.23 | 12-3 pm | West Capitol Park

Week in Review

This past week, VOCAL-NY led an action to protest Eric Adams continued policy of incarceration and criminalization over housing for New York’s homeless youth. As the number of homeless youth increases every year, schools and youth support programs are being starved for funding, while the NYPD budget continues to increase. VOCAL-NY rallied to demand that Mayor Adams support the effort to house homeless youth in New York City and divest from criminalization of people who are homelessness.
