Welcome ! Consumers United For Fairness is dedicated to building a viable consumer activist movement within the Democratic Party to protect consumer rights, elect consumer-friendly politicians, and lobby for consumer-oriented legislation. Dear friend, There’s an international emergency that will change life on this planet irrevocably. It has the potential to kill millions. But if you watch network news, you may not be aware of just how serious climate change is. Media Matters just released their 2020 report that finds major broadcasters have mostly ignored the topic. Tell corporate media to cover the climate crisis with the urgency it deserves. Click here to sign the petition.
Governments, businesses, and everyday citizens aren’t doing nearly enough to stave off looming global disaster. Yet Media Matter found media coverage actually dropped -- from 0.7% of network airtime in 2019 to 0.4% in 2020. Even the growth of climate change-related disasters in the U.S. -- devastating fires in the West, a massive cold wave in the South -- hasn’t gotten networks to give global warming the kind of coverage it deserves. Tell ABC, CBS and NBC it’s time to put the spotlight on climate change. Sign our petition now.
Even the Covid-19 pandemic is directly related to the climate emergency -- not that you’d have heard that from major broadcasters. The destruction of natural habitats have brought us in closer contact with animals carrying diseases we are ill-equipped to fight -- and tropical diseases are spreading north as the planet grows warmer. Tell major broadcasters to do their jobs and educate the public about the threat of climate change. Sign the petition. & before you go ...
