An internal IRS investigation just confirmed that Black Americans are audited at higher rates than should be expected given their share of the U.S. population.

"Extra audits of Black Americans is disgraceful and must end," said Democratic Congressman Bill Pascrell, Jr.

Tell the IRS: Stop targeting Black Americans for audits.

The internal IRS investigation follows a Stanford study showing that Black Americans were up to five times more likely to be audited than other Americans.

"The IRS should drill down to understand and modify its existing audit selection methods to mitigate the disparity we've documented," said Stanford University law professor Daniel Ho, co-author of the study.

Sadly, there's some speculation that the over-auditing of Black Americans is due to a flawed artificial intelligence algorithm.

But regardless of what's causing the disparity, the IRS needs to address it now.
