URGENT ACTION NEEDED: The Biden administration is set to allow the DESTRUCTION of Oak Flat !
Chí’chil
Biłdagoteel, known in English as Oak Flat, is a high desert oasis
considered sacred to the San Carlos Apache Tribe and other tribal
communities in Arizona. For Indigenous communities, their connection to
Oak Flat goes back to their ancestors, and they continue to practice
ceremonies and hold cultural events here to this day.
Now, the land is UNDER THREAT by Resolution Copper. They want to build the largest copper mine in North America
at the Oak Flat area. To fuel their corporate greed, they’ve been
pushing for a devastating land exchange that would allow them to mine
away at the sacred land.
The mine and any toxic waste coming from it would PERMANENTLY DESTROY Oak Flat. What’s worse, it would desecrate Indigenous cultural and religious sites, and deplete already scarce water resources ! Friend,
we can’t stand by while these plans unfold before our eyes. Sign your

Groups
on the ground have been pushing back against these reckless plans for
years. They ramped up efforts in 2021, when Trump fast-tracked the
transfer of thousands of acres of land to -- and we can’t make this up
-- a UK-Australian mining company NOTORIOUS for polluting Papua New Guinea, causing an environmental disaster in Brazil that left 19 dead, and blowing up Juukan Gorge, a treasured 46,000-year-old Aboriginal site.
Agriculture
Secretary Tom Vilsack would ignore this devastating history and allow
Resolution Copper to carve a GIGANTIC CRATER in the area. Not to
mention, the mining technique could result in a toxic waste dump that could cover 15,000 acres and be taller than the Washington Monument.
Luckily,
it’s not a done deal -- and we have activists like you to help stop
these plans in their tracks. Right now, Secretary Vilsack is the one who
could sign away Oak Flat by publishing a comprehensive Final
Environmental Impact Statement -- and that’s why he needs to hear from
you today.

impact statement and ensure the preservation of Oak Flat for future
generations! >>
