U.S (PRAMILA FOR CONGRESS) : How can we protect immigrant survivors of violence ?

 Progress America

Friend, we need to do more to protect immigrants in our country.

Immigrant women are significantly more likely to suffer domestic violence, nearly three times the national average. It’s crucial that we do everything we can to ensure survivors of domestic violence, human trafficking, and gender based violence are protected.

That’s why Pramila introduced the Working for Immigrant Safety and Empowerment (WISE) Act to protect immigrant survivors of domestic violence, human trafficking, and gender-based violence.

As a progressive movement, it is our duty and moral obligation to keep our communities safe and protect our neighbors, no matter their race, ethnicity, citizenship status, or background. If you stand with Pramila and our movement, please add your name to our petition to urge Congress to pass the WISE Act and protect immigrant survivors.

Immigrant women and children are particularly vulnerable to domestic violence, and the rate of abuse against immigrant women is nearly 49 percent, nearly three times the national average. And they are less likely to report these instances due to fear of deportation.

The WISE Act would ensure that immigrants have access to protections intended by the bipartisan Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), the Trafficking Victim Protection Act (TVPA), and other federal and state laws. And most importantly, this bill will ensure survivors pursuing relief are not detained or deported before their applications are fully adjudicated.

Victims of violence should be able to receive justice, no matter what. Add your name to stand with Pramila and our progressive movement as we fight to ensure all immigrants have the federal and state protections they need to feel and be safe.

Together,

Team Pramila.
