What : Please join the Capital Region harm reduction community for an in-person press conference & rally to demand the Governor take action by passing the Overdose Prevention Package and approving the Overdose Prevention Center pilots. This rally will also be a space for community members to commemorate their loved ones who have died from preventable overdose, and speak out against the racist and classiest war on drugs.
Why : To commemorate the 5,100 New Yorkers that died from preventable overdose in 2020 alone, and the countless others before that. For far too long, the Capital Region has been the most overlooked when it comes to the overdose crisis. On this day, we will honor those that have died by demanding Governor Hochul take action to prevent future overdose deaths in our community by : signing the Overdose Prevention Package bills and approving the long overdue Overdose Prevention Pilots.
