Friend, housing is a fundamental need – but access to permanent housing is far too expensive for many people. As a result, folks get stuck in a cycle of renting, and that comes with a host of its own problems. Odds are, if you’ve been renting for any significant period of time, you’ve encountered a less than ideal landlord situation. Over the past few decades, it feels like tenets have had to shoulder fewer and fewer rights while paying much more in rent. Thankfully, the CFPB is starting to fight back. Right now, the CFPB is soliciting public comments from people like you about the rise of background checks as a general practice for renting.
