Friend,
Mothers go without food for an entire day or more, to ensure their
children can eat. Fathers don't know when they will be able to work
again to afford even a loaf of bread. A child will be lucky to have a
warm meal on their birthday, let alone a cake.
So many displaced families around the world face food insecurity and millions more live in regions with famine-like conditions.
And now, countries in the Horn of Africa, like Somalia, Ethiopia and Kenya are facing the same life-threatening stakes.
Knowledge is power and the more we can learn about the threat of famine
and food insecurity in the region, the more we can do to help. I encourage you to take a moment to read through our famine FAQs. Thank you for your care and compassion.
The impact of the global economic downturn has been far-reaching and
families living in the Horn of Africa have suffered more than most. As
droughts and climate change wreak havoc on these countries, food becomes
scarcer as there is less water and viable farmland.
The people hardest hit by this food crisis are refugees and displaced people who are already extremely vulnerable. But because people like you care, these families are not alone.
Thank
you for taking the time to learn more about how famine and food
scarcity threaten refugees and how the incredible support of this
community makes a lifesaving difference.
