U.S (HIP HOP CAUCUS) : The silencing of Tennessee’s representatives.

 

 

 

Friend, America is facing an epidemic of gun violence. It is officially the leading cause of death for children. Black and Brown communities face preventable tragedies across the country each and every day. Our elected leaders could enact true reform to save lives, but instead, too many elected officials work to block any measures that could keep guns out of the hands of people who end up taking lives with them. After the tragedy in Tennessee where six people were killed in a school shooting, state representatives Justin J. Pearson and Justin Jones joined thousands of protestors from across the state in demanding change. Then, their own colleagues voted to expel them from the legislature. Rev Yearwood joined State Rep. Pearson, along with Attorney Ben Crump, to talk about how a hyper-racially gerrymandered system led up to this, and about how we need to reform the system to fight for real change.
