Friend, the Petrochemical industry is not our friend. In the face of climate change and rising public awareness about the devastating effects of fossil fuels, those same corporations face a critical question : “Do we reform our practices or find new ways to boost our profits ?” You can guess which direction they choose. Now, it’s plastics. The expansion of petrochemical engineering and production has had devastating effects on local communities, with Black, Brown, and Indigenous people facing the brunt of the harm. These same corporations target our communities for production and disposal sites, because of the failure of local politicians to protect folks. That’s why our team launched a new visual project called Green Justice League : Petro Gotta Go – to expose the insidious practices of the petrochemical industry that directly harm the health of vulnerable communities.
